The Yak Apollo waterproof jacket (cag) has some great solutions for paddle boarders wanting all the benefits a full-on dry suit offers but without the potential discomfort they bring.

This Yak jacket has a really comfortable neck seal design which allows it to be fully watertight but without the feeling of it being overwhelming (anyone who has ever tried on a full drysuit will know what we mean). 

This Yak Apollo jacket has a latex seal around the wrists that is comfortable and again means there is a waterproof seal to stop the water.
This jacket also has a waist system design, that when used with the trousers, makes a nearly waterproof seal so if you do fall in you won’t get wet.

Yak Chinook Paddleboarding Dry Trousers

The Yak paddleboarding waterproof dry trousers work perfectly worn on there own or with the matching Yak Apollo jacket.

These waterproof trousers have a latex seal around the ankle, The latex seal is really comfortable and stops the water from getting in when walking into the water or if you accidentally fall in.  The fabric of the trouser is waterproof and durable fabric so these trousers will last for years.

The waistband on these trousers are designed to fit and match the Apollo jacket, the design allows the trousers and jacket to overlap each other causing a near-dry seal at the waist, meaning that if you fall in by accident when wearing both you won’t get wet. 

The trousers can easily be worn by themselves and are a fantastic option for riders who want a waterproof trouser that can be worn by themselves with the option of teaming with a jacket to make them (almost) fully dry. The trousers allow all riders, but especially women, to have the option of staying dry but with the option of easily going to the loo!:)

The Yak brand is unisex and this does allow larger sizing to be more easily manufactured, so this brand does go up to an XXL, we have looked into the sizing and feel covers up to a size 20 in women sizing.

WHY WE REALLY LOVE THIS KIT?

We really love this Yak jacket and Trouser 2 piece design for lots of reasons but there are 4 reasons that really stand out!…

1. This paddleboarding Jacket and Trouser combination allow’s for clothing options for the different weather we get in the UK. The rider can enjoy paddleboarding and have the confidence that if the weather changes for good or for bad layers can easily be added or taken away, allowing the rider to not get too hot or too cold.

2. We really love the separates option for both men and women but we do really recognise that women have fewer clothing options for ‘comfort breaks’ and this 2 piece design does allow women to go for a quick wee more easily.

3. Budget – The yak kit is very reasonably priced for what the rider is getting but to make it, even more, budget friendly, the jacket and trousers can be purchased separately allowing for the initial expense of being totally dry on the water to be less of a blow to the wallet.

4. This Yak 2 piece waterproof paddle boarding kit is Unisex, which allows manufacturing of larger sizing to be easier, (Larger sizes sell at a slower rate so is harder for manufacturers and retailers to purchase). We have looked into the XXL sizing on this kit and this kit goes up to about a women’s size 20, but if you’re not sure, we are always on the phone for detailed guidance on sizing.
