Palm Bora Unisex Jacket – Chilli Red
All Weather Dry Jacket for Paddle Boarding By Palm
The Palm Bora Unisex jacket is a fantastic jacket for paddle boarders and is the next step up from the Palm Chinook in warmth, This jacket can be worn on its own as protection against the elements but can also be worn with ‘twin waist’ dry trousers, which allows this jacket and trouser combo to act as an ‘almost’ watertight dry suit.
At SUP inflatables we specifically pick out products and brands that are perfect for paddle boarding, trialling and testing everything ourselves to seek out what’s perfect and what the limitations are on each product.
This Palm Bora jacket is perfect for cold weather, long distance and recreational paddling as it is extremely comfortable to wear, with a neck that will stop water if you accidentally fall in (but is not overwhelmingly tight, which both neoprene and latex fittings can be).
This Palm Bora jacket can be teamed with twin waist dry trousers to allow for an ‘almost’ dry fit when falling in. The reason we have teamed this jacket with the Palm Zenith and Yak Chinook trousers is these 2 trousers are really comfortable with the right cut through the trousers for getting on and off your board bending and kneeling as well as standing for long periods of time.. but very critically these pants DO NOT have a boot/sock. After extensive testing and chatting to other paddle boarders, we find that pants with socks attached do keep the water out, but as these socks are not designed for each size of foot they are very uncomfortable to stand on (so they seem to work for kayakers who are mostly sat down) but for paddle boarders there is too much fabric around the foot and this is uncomfortable and also causes it own instability issues. To get around this problem of cold wet feet which is certainly not ideal, we suggest the pant is teamed with a waterproof sock, (we have chosen the Showerpass brand for is durability and fit). By placing the sock on first, and then the trouser, the trouser cuff seals the bottom enough to keep the foot warm and dry. To keep this option durable and comfortable, a low-profile trainer is worn on top of the sock.
This Palm Bora jacket is dependable when the weather is challenging. For rough ocean conditions and cold weather touring, the Bora will keep you comfortable and paddling strong. Supple XP 3-layer fabric keeps you warm and let’s vapour out, while the articulated hood, latex wrist seals and velcro twin waist will keep you snug and dry
